The Light to the World Christian Academy was established in 1999 to meet the educational and spiritual needs of the children of Kostroma.  Since that time, it has grown to provide instruction to students completing the eleven grades of Russian primary and secondary education.

The Academy provides a quality education guided by the highest academic standards in Russia. It is consistently listed among the top schools in the Kostroma region with many of LTTW’s students winning national awards for academic excellence. 

All students study the prescribed subjects of Russian primary and secondary education.  They also receive eleven years of instruction in the English language.  As a result, families in the surrounding community are eager to enroll their children in the Academy.  Annually there are usually 45 families vying for one of only twelve openings in the first grade.  Upon graduation, LTTW alumni are able to attend, and excel at colleges or universities throughout Russia. 

However, providing a quality education has never been the primary mission of the Academy.  As an outreach of the Kostroma Christian Church, LTTW seeks to glorify Christ and bring students and their families into a saving relationship with Him.  Students are regularly taught the Bible throughout the eleven years they attend the academy.  For most of these children, this will be the first and only place they hear about Jesus.
